What is the BFA

The Bicycle Federation of Australia (BFA) is the national peak body representing people who ride bicycles for recreation, transport, tourism, health & fitness and fun. It aims to improve the environment for cycling and encourage more Australians to ride more often. The BFA comprises cycling organisations from States and Territories within Australia. It is a nonprofit organisation and was established in 1979.

The BFA also indirectly represents several million Australians who ride bicycles for fun, sport and transport because bikes are useful, healthy and less expensive than most other transport modes.

NEWSFLASH!!!

Bicycle Federation of Australia members have resolved to cancel the BFA's registration as an incorporated association.  The BFA will cease to exist in early 2010 as an incorporated association once the cancellation is approved.

This website will therefore be closed down in early 2010. Maintenance of content on the website was discontinued in late 2009.

The BFA committee thanks members and supporters who, over many years, have contributed time, effort and resources to represent at the national level people who ride bikes for transport, recreation and transport.
